As healthcare services continue to become increasingly digital, many older adults face difficulties accessing and using online health tools confidently and safely. To address this challenge, the eHealth4Seniors project is developing the eHealth Literacy Toolkit under Activity 2, a key project result designed to support both seniors in navigating the digital health environment as well as adult educators in helping and transferring the educational content of the toolkit. Moreover, in order to assist the educators further, the toolkit contains lesson plans for each module in order to assist the educators in teaching and how to use the modules properly.
The Toolkit is being developed through a collaborative approach by the project partners and will consist of two interconnected parts. The first part is addressed to adults aged 55+ and includes practical, accessible, and user-friendly modules on topics such as telemedicine, digital health applications, online safety and privacy, assistive technologies, and data health management. Special attention is given to accessibility, ensuring that the materials are suitable for seniors with different levels of digital experience and possible visual or hearing limitations.
The second part of the Toolkit is designed for adult educators and trainers who work with older learners. It includes the eHealthCompEdu Framework, lesson plans, practical activities, and guidance on how to deliver digital health literacy training in an inclusive and engaging way. A step-by-step manual will also accompany the Toolkit to support educators in using the materials effectively during workshops and training sessions.
To ensure quality and usability, the Toolkit will undergo peer review, translation into the partners’ national languages, and pilot testing with seniors and educators during the following project activities. Through this process, eHealth4Seniors aims to create a practical and sustainable educational resource that promotes active ageing, lifelong learning, and more equitable access to digital healthcare services across Europe.
The Toolkit will be uploaded in the project website and will be available for download. The toolkit will be available in every partner language English, Estonian, Greek and Slovenian.
